Who we are

Green Hydrogen Network (Africa) is a pan-African, multi-stakeholder platform advancing the development of a resilient, inclusive, and competitive green hydrogen ecosystem across Africa. We bring together communities, industry leaders, academic institutions, policymakers, financiers, and development partners to transform Africa’s vast renewable energy potential into practical, scalable green hydrogen solutions that support sustainable development and industrial growth.

Why green hydrogen matters for Africa

The continent’s renewable energy potential can power electrolysis at scale. Green hydrogen supports industrial growth, energy security, and climate action while building local value chains and regional trade in clean products and services—so African countries shape the global transition, not only take part in it.

Alignment with AU Agenda 2063, AfCFTA and SDGs

Our work is firmly aligned with African Union Agenda 2063, particularly the aspirations for inclusive economic growth, sustainable industrialisation, energy security, and climate-resilient development. By promoting local value creation and regional collaboration, the Network also supports the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), enabling cross-border green hydrogen value chains, regional markets, and intra-African trade in clean energy products and services.

Green Hydrogen Network (Africa) focuses on awareness, capacity building, and collaboration as the foundation for a successful hydrogen economy. Through community outreach and public engagement, we build grassroots understanding and social acceptance of green hydrogen technologies. Our webinars, workshops, and professional training programmes equip institutions, professionals, and young Africans with the technical, policy, and investment knowledge required to participate meaningfully in the sector.

We actively engage governments and regional bodies through policy dialogue and advocacy, supporting the development of enabling regulatory frameworks and national hydrogen roadmaps. These efforts contribute directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Beyond strategy and advocacy, the Network facilitates networking events, investment forums, pilot projects, feasibility studies, and funding mobilisation, bridging the gap between policy ambition and real-world implementation. Our approach ensures that green hydrogen delivers tangible economic, social, and environmental benefits for African countries.
